Synergising the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing

The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC) project was awarded to Nexus Infrastructure in August 2015 to design, construct, operate and maintain the 41 km bypass. Engineering firms, WSP and Aurecon formed the APB TSRC Joint Venture (APB) to deliver the detailed design for Nexus Delivery.

When finished, the TSRC will connect the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa in the east, to the Gore Highway at Athol in the west via Charlton. The Australian and Queensland Governments are jointly funding the delivery of the $1.6 billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing on an 80:20 funding split.

Construction will take approximately three years to complete and is expected to be open to traffic in late 2018. The TSRC will help reduce congestion in the Toowoomba Central Business District (CBD), diverting heavy vehicle from local streets, improving efficiency and driver safety.

Data Management

Data Management & Collaboration

WSP and Aurecon implemented 12d Synergy data management capabilities to share and manage all of their 12d Model data. In addition to managing 12d Model, 12d Synergy was also used to handle SWMM data, GIS data and project tasks, enhancing collaboration and communication between the design teams.

“Prior to using 12d Synergy I worked on a project on the Sydney Office. When I returned to the Brisbane office to continue working on this project, it would take between 30 – 40 minutes to open the same project across the corporate network. Due to the local caching technology in 12d Synergy, similar projects now open in around 1 – 2 minutes. I can now work from any office in the country or from home and I know my data will load quickly. Plus I can make my edits without any delays. 12d Synergy saves me a lot of time every day.”

Email Management

Email Management

With a need to coordinate and track email communication, APB evaluated various solutions and selected 12d Synergy to support email management for more than 80 people. 12d Synergy integrates seamlessly with two existing exchange email servers and allows all emails to be filed and searchable by content and email attributes.

12d Synergy stores the project data and emails in a  central repository. These can be selectively exported to external storage; this is a requirement as information needs to be shared with project partners that may not have 12d Synergy, as well as for backup and/or archiving.
